My name is Stephanie.
I believe reading is one of the greatest gifts life has to offer a person. The ability to read is a gift, skill, and privilege to say the least.
I enjoy educating myself through reading and often find much of my motivation for living through what I read.
My history with books and the written word started when I was very young. There are many people I thank God for teaching me how to read. I still remember in Kindergarten my teacher had me read a book to the class during one of our parties. I guess my love and passion for reading was already obvious.
My grandmother (aka: my mother and one of my best friends) used to do a reading program with me with I was of elementary age. Besides her constantly reading to me, she would have me read to her. The program she designed was incentive based; every time I finished reading a book to the both of us (out loud), I would get a star on the chart for that week. If I got so many stars I got a stick of gum. Yes, one stick of gum! I remember getting lots of gum sticks and the excitement I felt because of my accomplishments.
To this day I still spend my free time reading, buying, and hanging out with books.
What most people do not know about me is that no matter where I go I always have at least one book in my purse, bag, or car. When I travel I have more than one. I rarely leave home without a book.
I am sure I sound incredibly crazy, but I truly believe there is no such thing as too many books. My library may seem large to some, but to me it still has much potential for further growth. Ever see Belle's library in the Disney movie "Beauty and the Beast"? Yeah, my library is no where near that size .... yet!
Happy reading to you!
Stephanie
